DESIGN SCIENCE REVOLUTION CONVERGES ON D.C. JUNE 2-3

The Buckminster Fuller Institute invites you to join us for a design science convergence as we seek to "make the world work for 100% of humanity."

On June 2 at the National Press Club, we will announce the winner of the 2010 Buckminster Fuller Challenge, a $100,000 prize to support the development and implementation of a strategy that has significant potential to solve humanity’s most pressing problems. The winner will be one of six finalists, selected by a panel of 11 distinguished jurors — all internationally recognized leaders in design and sustainability.

The conferring ceremony kicks off a two-day series of events including the opening night of an acclaimed one-man show about Fuller at Arena Stage, and "Architecting The Future," an intensive Design Science workshop at American University.

And the winner is... The winner of the third annual Buckminster Fuller Challenge will be announced to the international media during a special ceremony at the National Press Club followed by a reception. The ceremony will commence at 12 pm and include a review of finalists, the announcement and awarding of the $100,000 prize, remarks by the winner, runner-up, Challenge jurors, as well as members of the Fuller family, and other distinguished guests. • 8 pm: OPENING NIGHT: R. Buckminster Fuller: THE HISTORY (and Mystery) OF THE UNIVERSE
(Arena Stage Crystal City, VA map)
This critically acclaimed production is the closest thing to spending an evening with the design science visionary, inventor of the geodesic dome, and pioneer of the green movement. The L.A. Times called it “a tour-de-force re-creation of a Fuller talk, one that is—like the man—physical, metaphysical, intellectual, eclectic, challenging and hugely entertaining."
  • Immediately following performance: OPENING NIGHT PARTY
Registered participants will be invited to attend a special post-show reception with the actor, director, producer and dignitaries from Arena Theatre and other special guests. Registration required.
