A proposal for future Living Conditions
What would a home look like in ten, twenty, or even sixty years from now? In a world that is rapidly changing, why must we live in a standard lifestyle? The future is that of mobility. Does a house have to be static in a world that is more and more characterized by the transient? The Dymaxion house of 1940s represented an attempt of a redefinition of home. Sustainability combined with ease of construction
The city is evolving; static spaces have no
place in a situation of change. Hence the POD home. The POD home is a house that has the ability to float on water. If the home can float, why not let it move? With the freedom of movement homes are no longer attached to the same site; communities have the oportunity to form anywhere.
This allows for the creation of communties that can always adjust and adapt to change; communities that are not defined by the state or where borders lie, but by common values and beliefs. "No one is homeless; we just don’t know what a home is."
THE INFRASTRUCTURE
The floating POD homes are connected through an infrastructural organizational strategy. The new infrastructure (ie: parks, hospitals, schools) are all floating entities which PODs can swim up to and interface with. The POD home can interfaces with a floating infrastructure which in turn creates a new urban condition upon the site. These infrastructures can connect with Instead of driving to work in a car, just sail your house to work.
