A NEW BUSINESS MODEL IN CHINA WHO’S INFLUENCE PREPARES AN ECOLOGICAL GLOBAL FUTURE
The purpose of this new ecological Chinese business model and implementation is to re-structure the traditional and current Chinese business model, with its global influence, its devastating environmental consequences, its assumption of unlimited resources and its hierarchical social influence, into a socially and environmentally protective program to ensure the future survival of the Chinese people and the global population at large. Describe the critical need your solution addresses.
This model has been developed, tested and practiced in my office environment for over 10 years in both China and the USA. Throughout this period implementation of the four described areas have experienced both success and failure and our office made adjustments and refinements. I have come to the point where I are confident the principles of this model can be successfully implemented into general business practice with particular relevancy within current Chinese society and culture and easily adapted to business attitudes and practice in the USA and other countries.
Explain your initiative in more depth and its stage of development.
It’s comprehensive: The key issues of human and environmental survival, and the mutually beneficial interaction of the two, is a four-point model (the tetrahedron, nature’s simplest and strongest structure) that describes the fundamental basis for multi-dimensional conscience and behavior to insure the future survival of humanity and nature.
It’s anticipatory: Given the globally devastating state of human interaction, both with each other and the natural environment, it is a necessity that we urgently seek to create a new model for living.
It’s ecologically responsible: We must preserve what is left of nature because it provides clues and solutions to our many human problems.
It’s feasible: This new ecologic business model can be understood and practiced by anyone, anywhere, from the poorest of the poor to the captains of industry.
It’s verifiable: It can be tested in any kind of circumstance and under the most rigorous conditions because it is based upon human attitude and behavior producing measurable results.
How does your strategy and approach respond creatively and comprehensively to key issues?
I am an architect, author and educator in the design profession since 1974. In 1976, at Columbia University in New York, I first publically introduced the observance that we must deeply study and understand the how’s and why’s of nature to develop substantive and implementable social and environmental solutions to improve the present state of humanity and the natural environment. Since then, I have written four books and numerous magazine and newspaper articles, have been featured on many radio and television programs including National Geographic, the Discovery Channel, the Learning Channel, the History Channel, CNN, BBC, NBC, CBS, the Disney Channel, the McNeil/Lehrer Report, the Public Broadcasting Network, China television, India Television, Euro television and others, describing the urgent need to comprehend the principles of nature as clues to survive the future. I hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s (2) and an Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in design and education, from the University of California, Berkeley, having began my academic career at Columbia University in New York, and I have been teaching at various national and international universities since 1981 and will begin a three-year professorship at China’s Hua nan University Institute of Technology in 2009. Support for my New Model for Business culminated recently with an invitation to publically present this model at China’s most important and largest conference of Chinese industrialists and business leaders, The China High Tech Fair, in Shenzhen, China, in October of 2008. The presentation was well received with several follow-up publications.
