Neural Pathways Language Splicing (NPLS)

Description 1: The problem that I am in the process of solving is one of the broadest in spectrum facing our multi-cultural, multi-lingual human population today…”intra-global communications”!
I have tackled this most difficult of problems because I see it’s solution as a critical prerequisite for implementing successfully coordinated, multi-cultural solutions for our ailing Spaceship Earth!
Description 2: My solution to our currently inadequate intra-global communications
is called “Neural Pathways Language Splicing”, or NPLS. It’s implementation will lead to future generations that are all multi-lingual and this will be achieved nearly effortlessly, as are all of our own native languages. By interfacing the NPLS process with the highly developed art of children’s animated movie entertainment…the resulting creation will be a brand new and very interesting form of “edutainment”!
The NPLS process was directly derived from the application of Bucky’s “two generalized principles of Universe”: frequency and angle…or in more common language, velocity and direction.
GIVEN 1: Ying/Yang (symbol)---everything everywhere is in a constant state of change (or movement).
GIVEN 2: velocity and direction are each multi-dimensional and ubiquitous “generalized principles” or common denominators of everything everywhere (or Universe).
Focusing on the process of language acquisition or language learning…I soon realized that the massive failure in this field was due to a “lack of resonance” with human nature. i.e. the systems in use were predominantly left-brain, neo-cortex, rote “memorization” systems….that are a combination of too fast, in their rush to speaking, and too slow in acquiring the nucleus, or “balanced-brain” working understanding, of a target language…resulting in no resonance and no success! We had not yet learned how to imitate success by imitating nature!
Upon further research while teaching ESL off and on in Asia from 1995-2002, I realized that neither language communication nor language acquisition were, in fact, “steady stream” processes at all…but processes whereby “quanta” or “energy packets” of language were being communicated or transferred. So, by extension, I proceeded to reduce two languages into their “lowest common denominators” of these quanta or energy packets….which are “complete thoughts” or phrases! And then realizing that ones “native language” was already “stored perfectly” in both hemispheres of the brain ( by a system that we have not yet been able to fully understand), it became clear that by splicing the actual meanings ( not literal translations) of the same quanta or phrase in different two languages together, with the native language going first for total understanding and then immediately followed by the target language….that the student (even if only a toddler) would automatically begin to download, and therefore “store perfectly”, the target language… sub-consciously and effortlessly right alongside his or her own native language!
Therefore, all that was left to solve was the locating of the fuel to run the process…and as that fuel is, of course, “sincere, self-motivated interest”! With two small children of my own, it didn’t take much looking to find a fantastically successful system of “sincere, self-motivated interest” in the form of children’s animated movies ( my kids must have watched Pixar’s creation, Nimo, 30 time of their own free will!) When NPLS is interfaced with that powerful medium, the resulting new form of edutainment will sweep the world, creating future generations that will be able to communicate in any one of their own multiple “native languages”… on levels never before imagined!
Description 3: I have begun the financing of NPLS by trading 10% ownership of the patent for full payment of the patenting process by my dear friend and partner, James Fairhead. He has so far invested $8,500 with our Beverley Hills patent attorneys for filing our US domestic patent and will invest another $4,500 for filing the international patent once the US patent is approved. We filed May 18th, 2007 under the new “accelerated process” which is guaranteed to take only a total of one year, if accepted. (that acceptance is still pending as of October 16th, 2007).
Description 4: On a broader scale, our financial plan is to meet first with the Disney ( including Pixar) Corporation and eventually negotiate a “master license”. Toward those ends, we already have an understanding with the distinguished law firm of Latham & Watkins who will represent us to the Disney Corp., who is one of their regular clients. We have also already produced a 15 minute demonstration video that includes 3 minutes of the NPLS process edited into the Pixar animated movie, “Monsters Inc.”. The demo has been very well received so far by all those who have viewed it and we are only waiting the issuing of our US patent before we begin the “next stage” of development, that being partnering with a media content provider….hopefully Disney!
Additionally, I have retained the services of Christopher Scott Taylor, a long time friend from high school in Marin County during the 60’s, who is himself a retired attorney, in exchange for 5% ownership of the NPLS patent. Christopher will be our business and legal liaison with Latham & Watkins during their negotiations with the Disney Corp. and with the Disney Corporation itself from then onward. James Fairhead has a BA in business and has managed large sports wear companies in France and England and is also fluent in French and conversant in Thai. James will be NPLS’s lead presenter globally, while I will assist in Asia.
As for myself, I was one of the first people in the world to get a degree in “synergy”….from New College of California in 1980: “Wholistic Health/Synergy”. I have written and directed several video programs and have managed to learn to speak conversational Norwegian, Spanish and the infinitely more difficult Thai language. I studied with “Grandpa Bucky” in workshops, lectures and seminars over a period of 14 years starting in 1969 and up until his passing in the early 80’s. I was on the operations staff of his famous and final Marin County presentation called “integrity days”. He has been a great and enduring “gift” in my life.
Regarding our business direction, we are planning to only negotiate a simple MOU during the first round of negotiations, which will include a “consultancy contract” for the three of us. This will achieve the much simpler goal of putting us on the payroll while assisting with the re-editing of Disney’s 80 pre-existing animated movies. This approach will also allow Disney the time to become fully appreciative of the projected potential revenues of interfacing NPLS with their 80 movie archive. We have very conservatively estimated a yield of 100 billion dollars in profits over the next 20-25 years, depending how fast the NPLS re-editing is accomplished.
Disney currently distributes their movies in 50 languages and by using a variation of Bucky’s mathematic formula for calculating group dynamics….or the number of relationships in a given group: which is X squared, minus X, divided by 2, this results in 1,225 potential language combinations. However, for our usage, as each film has the ability to be re-edited into forms of from language 1 to language 2, and from language 2 to language 1, the formula therefore doesn’t need to be divided by two. Each individual movie, using 50 languages, will thus yield 2,450 combinations of possible new movies. And as they have 80 animated movies already in their archives, 2,450 times 80 equals 196,000 TOTALLY NEW NPLS formatted animated movie combinations.
Moreover, the animation process is easily and aesthetically slowed down to accommodate the slightly longer time needed to insert the phrase by phrase, bi-lingual NPLS dialog. It is also our intention to do the re-editing in at least velocities slower than that of the originally released movie and make those varied speeds self selectable by the student.
As I am located in the “developing economy” of Thailand, the $100,000 prize money will allow me to further the NPLS project on many levels, including the production of a two part, broadcast quality, video documentary series entitled, “the Unraveling of Babel-ling”. The first part of which will dissect the various components that contribute to the “Babel” effect, or the problem of divisive intra-global mis-communications and the second will clearly delineate the multi-dimensional solution: Neural Pathways Language Splicing.
The ramifications of NPLS will be, in a social science sense, the equivalent of Fred Hoyle’s calculated solution to the problem of the unlikelihood of how three helium molecules were able to be combined into forming a single carbon 12 molecule…by discerning the precise velocity or “resonance” at which such a molecular reaction could and does take place. Likewise, NPLS discerns the precise velocity and “resonance” at which organic languages are most easily able to be acquired/formed or informed and stored into the human nervous system. And although that acquisition is most quickly accomplished via NPLS by the very young…anyone of any age can still successfully acquire a foreign language using the NPLS resonant system… the only limitation being the progressively longer time (acquisition velocity) which it takes to accomplish that language acquisition by progressively older students.
