Selection Process
A panel of distinguished jurors selects the winner of The Buckminster Fuller Challenge. The winner will be chosen via a multi-stage selection process:
Stage 1: REVIEW
All entry applications will be reviewed by a team consisting of members of the Award Program Committee of the Board of Directors of the Buckminster Fuller Institute and advisers. In addition, technical experts will be consulted on an as needed basis. The entries are vetted for compliance with the entry criteria and eligibility requirements. Several rounds of in-depth dialogue will take place amongst the review team over the course of eight weeks to determine which entries will be advanced.
Stage 2: INTERVIEW
A group of outstanding entries will be invited to participate in an interview and to submit more detailed information. Submittals at this stage may include but are not limited to; high resolution images, short web-based video, detailed budgets, progress updates, and letters of reference expanding on the strength and support of the project from one or more references.
Stage 3: SEMI-FINALISTS ADVANCE
A group of Semi-Finalists will be selected and advanced for review by our distinguished jurors. Additional materials and any new and noteworthy updates may be requested at this time.
